Too big at the bell housing to be 1.6b though. its say V6 of some sort

Nah -it was bolted to a G16B

Earlier Vitara g16a gearbox, 88-94.
If its in good order it is worth holding and selling as ive noticed an increase in failures/demand last 3-4 years.
$200-$600 for a used depending on condition and how quickly you want to sell
