G'day just wondering if you people would be happy with this pattern? it is in a Suzuki sierra rear diff with an arb air locker if it makes any difference.

No. Should be centred on the tooth.

Did you do a gear change or just the locker? If it’s just the locker there’s no need to touch the pinion.

I had a locker fitted by arb last year I only pulled it apart to rebuild it as the pinion seal was leaking and there was a small amount of play in the pinion shaft.
it has the original shim in it when i checked that pattern. how to i centre it more on the tooth? thanks for your help.

I have done some research and it seams that if the pattern is down on the toe on the drive and coast side, then I need to increase backlash. How much backlash can you run in a sierra diff?

G'day i tried to put the diff together tonight but i found that the new pinion spacer is shorter then the old one by about 0.1mm, I fitted it but the bearings went tight before the crush sleeve started crushing.
why would this be where there different ones of is the a defect? i ordered the kit from 4wd products on ebay.

If I put a shim under the crush sleeve to build up the Hight would that work? How tall is a crush sleeve when new my new one was if I remember correctly 55.4mm tall.

Sounds like your in way over your head
Perhaps have a fiddle with a cheap center before you attempt the locker

I put it back in last night and it is not whirring it gets warm after a short drive but i would say that is fine?

after a short road run of 15-20km with a stop in the middle the diff centre would be guessing about
50C I put the upper limit of preload would you consider that ok?

I normally ugguh duggah it until sits where it was on the thread previously or just a tad more.
Setting the backlash correctly can be tricky, i normally try and match the front diff as generally its pretty fresh by comparison to the rear.
