My 2012 Jimny with M15a, 235/60r16, 2inch lift, some engine mods as per my build getting 9.1/100km thats with a regional run of 250km to Clare valley and the rest in traffic around town. (I wasn't driving to get the best economy)
Edit: 378.7km 34.45 liters 98PULP

Used to mix approx a litre of vortex 95/98 ever fifth tank or so. Both my vintage suzuki scooters will accept as low as 87RON so 91 to them IS premium

Didnt want to start a new thread, so thought i ask this here...
Ok serious question... I know Aerodynamics are not normally associated with 4WDs, however, since getting my JML Bar on the GV, i have noticed my economy drop off a lil bit, i dont think its due to the weight of the bar, but because the bar is about about a third of the width of the plastic " Aerodynamic " bumper, so the bar has now exposed alot of the control arms and steering linkages, etc, and produces more drag... so i was thinking, what can i use to improve air flow, and it has to be flexible enough to with stand not breaking off road... then i happen to see a big 4WD with reinforced rubber sheet hanging of the bumpers, i think its mainly used for dust suppression, but it got me thinking, would bolting on some reinforced rubber sheet to the front bumper improve aerodynamics/economy, and has anyone tried this ?

chop mentioned a difference in economy between the stock plastic bumper & the JML bar, anything you do to with rubber sheeting is going to look pretty average IMO. have you still got the stock plastic bumper outer shell... you could possibly get creative & cut it up & use sections of it as an over bumper but again it's going to look pretty crap. have you pulled the error codes/fixed your o2 sensors since this post in july? viewtopic.php?f=5&t=41897

Suzistore is 95% sure its the O2 sensor on its way out, as it runs fine otherwise... getting it seen to when money allows... Another thing that has got my interest, and that could effect economy, is the PCV valve, how long are they meant to last, and should it be changed ?

Yep I mentioned it in another thread, think it was one of klutched's ones that once you remove the stock plastic front bumper it changes your economy. Its quite a big area that gets exposed after you remove it, clearly a good design by suzuki

I have the same JML bar and taller tyres than you Macca and am getting just over 10L/100. No rubber shroud will make a poofteenth of a difference to ecconomy.

Thought I'd add my 2 sents worth on the thread since I haven't psoted jack squat for ages. I'm using the My Cars app on my phone to work it all out for me Overdrive's stats are currently (since Jan 2012 or ~19k kms) Min - 9.05lts/100kms Max - 17.14lts/100kms Av - 11.75lts/100kms No real pattern to use as Overdrive gets used in the bush, on the sand, on the road as a daily etc etc. Since my last post in Overdrive's build thread I've added a pair of cheep, shitty spot lights and is now wearing a set of 235/70/16 AT's I haven't accounted for the tyre diameter change when it happened, I just kept plugging the numbers into the phone as they were. Speedo is about 7% out give or take tho.

May as well add my recent economy. this is all highway driving, rockhampton to brisbane
14.6L/100km rockhampton to gin gin --- mostly strong headwinds, spent a lot of time 4th gear barely maintaining 80km/h especially uphill 12.2L/100km gin gin to brisbane --- regular driving, maintaining up to 110km/h where able/legal
31" tires (economy figures adjusted to suit), 2" lift, car weighing in at over 1.3 ton, engine with 250,000km+ on it.

Last fill was 315km for 37ltr.
2013 jimny. 4" lift, 30" tyres and aprox 30% gearing reduction.
Car is thrashed and is often at redline 5sec after being started cold.

I recently had some good economy from my '94 Vitara LWB. Between 9.6 and 9.9L/100km on the highway sections of a return trip from Brisbane to Sydney. Has 215/75R15 MT, 2" lift, bullbar, roofbasket and roof spotties (without the usual roofbox), and was loaded to within 100kg of GVM.

I had a really noisy front end drive train, and it was just getting worse, and really noisy, so i had to do something about it... took it to Suzistore, to get checked out, and they found it was the wheel bearing, it had split in two, one half was frozen solid, and one half was moving, so i got both front bearings done, wow what a difference, my GV rolls very easily without much resistance now, which means less pushing on the go pedal… And now that it feels so much better, and had so much less rolling resistance, i did a fuel usage comparo... my normal figures are about 11.5L per 100kms, and now, with new Front wheel bearings, 10.5L per 100kms... so i am happy with that... i may get the rear ones done as well, see if that helps more...

Pity the LJ doesn't have a 12v socket, I'd love to get 10% more out of my fuel. The electric windows and stereo could really do with more power too.

Sierra high roof and ~2" lift, G13 with Swift TBI conversion: 8.8 l/100k typical city usage; 7.5 l/100k last weekend trip Adelaide to Southern Flinders and back (>100km off road 4WD and some low range, 110kph highway travel).

My Jimny gets between 6.7 and 8.2l/100km. I drive like a grandpa, local driving only. Vehicle is standard, on 91 RON I just put a tank of 98 RON in (BP ultimate) but will run a second tank full for an economy comparison. Noticeibly less detonation and a bit bit more lower down power (will pull 4th gear up Main South rd twisty bit from Darlington @ 80 kph).
A bit better than my Dunnydore; that was averaging 12-16's for the same driving.

My '95 Sierra is stock. 180,000km. Tyres 195/80 Yoko's. I run Lucas additive @91 octane and get 8.8 L/100Km. Running Vortex 95 without additive returns the same. Gauge is just above empty at about 350, but only takes around 30 litres. These figures are for around town and freeway. If I do long run with much difference, I will re-post. Andrew.

My 2.0L GV when I bought it (stock) I got no better than 10.5L/100km, mostly around 11.0L/ and I was pretty disappointed with that. I bought the 4 banger because of the supposed slightly better economy.
Now lifted ~2", 225/70/16 BFG AT's, 10w40, freehubs, and 98octane I have got it down to 9.1L/100km for my daily commute. Now getting a good 700+km to the tank where I struggled to get over 580km before. (I think the official specs were 8.9L combined cycle) I still need to swap the diffs so there may even be a gain there.
The empty roof rack easily adds 1L/100km around town, 2L/ on a trip.
My 98 jimny always got 7.9-8.1 around town with the 1.3 and the 1.6 with 2" lift and 215/75's

Mid 8's isn't 8l/100kms and driven like a pansy being the operative word.
offbackchoops, thinks he's getting it with a heavy right foot... hence the verbail diarrhea statement, it appears he's quoted straight from red book.
