Who cares how fast it goes in low range? That's what high range is for.

Our Jeep will theoretically do 120KPH in low.

maybe he is thinking about racing it?

I thought it was only patrol owners who boasted about how fast they could go in low range :D

you try running at a sand dune in low with 134% reduction gears then your care, hence why i'm curious as to the top speed, these low gear's would be perfect for the mud but sand hummmm well lets just say momentum is every thing..

I do.

On the sand here I need low range, all of my Suzukis have needed to dip back down into first low for the softer stuff. Since I don't have the power to max out 4th low on sand I drive everywhere in low range. If I had crawler gears and a top speed of 20km/h in low it'd drive me nuts.

I'd say exactly that is why Sierras have such an abysmal crawl ratio, they were geared for sand.

Of course, that's really not an issue in a V6 Vit were you have more than enough power to pull high on pretty much any surface.

I don't have access to my gearing calculator ATM but that's looks right to me, except you'll need to unplug the low range light switch on the transfer to get 4th low. Otherwise you'll be at about 40km/h @ 6k.

Crawler gears are for crawling. That's why I said how fast you can go in low range isn't relevant if you want to run them.

I have a spreadsheet that i put figures into and it tells me things.

I could explain, but it would all be just numbers on a page.

No drama's, spread sheets say no more. soo i assume this is with 4 gear in low 4wd as steve has mentioned ? cause i get that sort of speed at the moment in 4wd low but thats in 3rd as 4th gear or overdrive is cut out in 4wd low on the automatic's

I disconnected the low range light on my Vit with crawler gears, so I could get OD (overdrive or 4th).
It is locked out normally in low.
Was almost undriveable before.

Same, although the beastly but heroic 1.3 struggles sometimes.

I unplugged mine at the switch near the transfer case stick.
I imagine there is other options.
Having OD makes sand much easier.

Bugger scrape this idea,

Calmini just emailed me saying "Our transfer case reduction is not applicable on your model vehicle."

Time for the h27 swap

I'm sure they can fit too, i dont know how much difference there is in the transfer case between the 1600 an V6, But i'm not paying out the fund's nor start striping my case out until i know someone else has done it in a V6 vitara.

For roughly the same price i can do the h27 swap, with the pice of mind that it works.. 60 more horse's may help spin my wheels in the muddy tracks

I thought V6 auto was the same spline as 1.6, it was V6 manual that was different.

In fact, I'm 100% sure CJ swapped the same crawler geared transfer from a 1.6 carby manual to a 1.6 EFI auto to a H20 V6 Auto and then to a J20 Auto. I helped with these swaps so I'm almost 100% positive.
