So been looking into getting Reductions gears..

Shop will fit them for $400 (If take the tranny out and put back in)

Im trying to get myself a total price on this...

From Trail tough they are $749
Im trying to get a price on the shipping cost.. But ive got to the "Enter you card details" section, and i still dont have a price for shipping..

Ive emailed them twice = No reply..

Anyone know how much the shipping is? or is there a cheaper place?

they are probably at SEMA this week, give them time to respond.

If you went through lowrange offroad they would be able to ship to you for $65

It won't get much better, they fit nicely into the USPS flat rate box which is the $65 option.

I just got some gears 2 inch spacers body lift from low range was under a grand posted even with the gears being out of stock initially only took about 14 days or so couldn't be happier

gee your lucky, it took me almost 6 weeks to get my gears and i think 8 or so for darkhorse.

will be testing my gearing out tomorrow for the first time i have a feeling there going to be very low and lots of 2nd gear crawling with lots of low to high shifting.

They are as easy to fit as transfer gears in a Sierra. Alexvitara and Jessevit fitted Jesse's set in my garage in a few hours with minimal tools and assistance. If you read the install instructions its easy!

Nup, you'll be surprised. You just end up taking everything slower and easier because you can. It's awesome

On high country trips, I stay in low mostly, shifting to high for faster sections.
In sand dunes, low for the big ones, high for the rest, or get left behind in convoy.
This is towing my camper. I have 31's

it was great drove a few harder lines because i had more control. yeah i did use mainly 1st but had to use 2nd in some areas for the added wheel speed. I was shifting to high more as you can only go so fast/far in 5th low

I'v never been a big fan of using 5th low offroad. It's a tiny little gear and if you think about rolling along at, say, 3500rpm in 5th low, the gearbox thinks it's doing 100km/h - except you can shock load the gearbox much more easily in low range at 25km/h than you can in high range at 100km/h.

I've always tended to stay below peak torque in 4th low in my cars. If that's not enough speed, I'll slide across to high range.

There's always exceptions to the rule, and I use 4th low extensively in the AW-4 now, but it's something to consider.

yeah i know it is a small gear, i didnt/dont use it for long durations maybe 100m. if im doing more then yes i do slip into high as it gets annoying sitting in low when moving between section as its just so slow.

P.s steve- the 4.24 gears what are they equivalent to in a sierra box? 7.1:1???

they are probably closest to 4.1:1 gears from a sierra

Not really Tanshi - you have to take diff ratio into account.

It's easy to multiply 1.65X4.24 and get 6.99, however, you need to divide that by the difference in diff ratio in each vehicle, so they're actually equivalent to about 5.6:1 gears in a sierra.

Vitara: 3.65X4.24X5.12=79.23 Crawl
Sierra: 3.65X6.5X3.7=87.78 Crawl.

I've driven a vitara with gears - It was an AW-4 too, and drove very nicely.

i know about the diff gears, but he didnt ask about total gearing reduction

other wise you also need to know whether its an auto or a manual and allow for the gears in the gearbox.
