Trying to do valve clearances on a G16b, after the head was off for a reco. Any tips or tricks to doing it?
I can set the exhaust side up easily but every time I try to lock the nut off it seems to change the clearance.
As for the intake, im struggling to get the feeler gauge in there, and cant see how I can lock off the nut with a screwdriver holding the screw. There isn't enough room to get a spanner in there.
Bent tip feeler gauges help.. You'll have to experiment a bit to find the 'crush' for want of a better word. When you have set the gap with the screw, loosen it a quarter turn before tightening the nut and recheck clearance. You may only need 1/8 turn, you might need more.

Baleno or vitara? I could get to the intake valves easily on my baleno motor. I leave the feeler gauge in there and hold the screw bit with the screw driver and tighten.

Baleno, I got intake and exhaust mixed up.... Ill see if I can find some of the bent type feeler gauges, or just bend one of the cheap sets I have here.
