my passenger side front tyre stopped driving a couple off weeks ago.
i was trying to reverse snatch a cruser out of a bog and heard a click and then no drive. i have just got around to looking at it, i suspected the the lockright had broken the pins or something as there were no noises at all coming out off the diff when the hubs where locked. anyhow i just pulled the axle and the CV is kactus it hadn't disintegrated but every bit i can see has cracks in it.
is it possible for a CV to die and not make much noise, i do always have the aircon on and i am a bit deaf though. or should i slave in 40 deg heat with 99%
humidity and yank out the center for a look.

what bit has the cracks? but anyway, yeah it's probably rounded off the splines on the shaft, so the shaft just spins.

all the bits have cracks. after giving it a hit with a pressure washer
i can see that it is expanding where the spline is.

yeah, once the inside bits crack the axle spins and stuffs the splines.
Throw it in the bin... or make a trophy out of it

I was thinking the same thing on my way home.
Bring it down tomorrow so I can have a look. I know where I can get my hands on some good axle material.
