ok so i snapped my left rear spring in half. went to my local suzuki wreckers, bought a spring. liked the look of mine better so i used my spring pack apart from the big/main one (cus thats the 1 i broke) then noticed its about 30mm shorter and 20mm higher than the original one already on my car AND it has RH printed on top of the spring.
a week later i went back to my suzuki spare parts dealer to buy the "matching" spring to the one i had just bought, so they were the same/a pair. it has LH printed on the top.
i asked the guys in the shop if they are side specific and they said "i dont think so" then i heard one of them say they were off a "suzuki maruti van"
thats not a sierra!!
SSSOOOOOOO..
are the maruti springs ok 2 use on a sierra. its changed my shackle angle a fair bit, AND are they side specific, considering i am gonna replace only the main spring on to MY original spring pack. just to make them even.

so the springs you are fitting are shorter than the ones already on htere? and the wreckers said they are maruti?
sounds like you have lifted springs already fitted and they are sagged

the springs that were already on the car had little shims and plastick pads between em 2 stop em rubbing. the new ones didnt. so i kept my leaf pack and just replaced the main leaf (the one i broke) the NEW leaf springs havd LH & RH on em and lifted the car 20 mil from where it was before.
basically i wanna know if a maruti spring is ok on the car, and does the LH - RH really make a difference? and what kinda angle should my shackles be @ roughly?

Hi morpheus, mate maruti's are not vans, they are a 1litre engined LWB sierra assembled in India so I don't know what your wreckers means by van.
Maruti springs are the same as sierra springs, rear sierra springs are longer than front springs (which is why people do rear up front conversions).
Springs are side specific with driver side being set slightly higher, they are usually marked RH and LH or R and L or DS and PS depending on the brand. Check that they havn't sold you a set of front springs, measure along the surface of the spring and compare to your old spring, don't measure from eye to eye because the greater arc in higher spring will mean it is shorter from eye to eye. Raised springs and standard springs are actually the same length if you flatten them both out.

ok so heres a few photos..
the "new" spring is about an inch longer than my front springs. so i dont think they sold me front springs, plus the arch where it goes around the shackle looks completely different..
but its about 25 mil shorter than the rear springs i did have.. they have similar arch, but must b stronger because it lifted the car about 20 mil with the new spring..
the spring fits so it must be ok i guess, but will the different shackle angle have negative effects on the way the car behaves..
in the photos i have only replaced 1 spring. thats why the shackle angle is different from left to right. when i have time i'll change my old spring with the matching 1 for the new spring. keeping my spring pack, just replacing the MAIN spring..
