I just had a crazy idea !
Would it be possible to mount a rack and pin on the back of a diff .
You could use coily knuckles and it could go where the tie rod goes.
Only problem is angle from the firewall uni to the r&p uni might be to much.
Would need to use telescoping rhs for steering shaft as it would need a long slip yoke.
If it would work it would be good for gv owners.

Been looking under the vit and I think the only place u would fit coily rear control arms would be inside the chassis. Coil rear control arms with a johny joint in the chassie end would provide heaps of flex and good road behaviour.
Cant run them inline with the coil like u want as it would limit steering lock to much with out massive offset rims As 31 hit the chassis as is with +10 rim which is the legal limit and best fit for rear.
And I think u would be able to clear 33 with no body lift because u would have to limit up travel due to sump clearance
Joe could use coil overs like the calmini kit
And just find a way to brace the towers

Joe,
does your SAS kit for the vit require modification or removal of the crossmember the front diff is bolted to?
cheers

New challenger rear arms are another option to look at Joe
They are fairly long flat and have a bush at the chassis end

Hi Joe
Geez those diffs are coming along nicely. Good to see that you're getting into it still. Great welding on the diffs too. the whole thing looks very solid & strong. Love you're work.

I'd recomend going with Lux diffs if that is your tyre choice. I'm sure my axles could take it....but I do like to sleep at night!

OK......the project is not dead.....more like it has had a sex change This has been decided over too many bourbons and too many trips lately with Vits of all sorts. The solid diff would require too much work on the part of others....not keen on that. Would prefer something more bolt in....which leads to................................ Fabbed steel front housing.....axles replaced with tailshafts as per my post on bullet proof vit diffs viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6953&start=180.......and chain drive portals (clearance and gearing ). Tell me what you think.

Interesting... will be a very short shaft, and unis bolt to flanges both sides?
Tell us about operating angle range and strength compared to stock?
Will the axles bolt up to standard gear, or need the diff and whole shebang?
How much needs to change for portals?
Looking forward to seeing it happen anyhoo...
