Whenever I fit a nut/bolt vertically, I always try to have the nut go underneath... That way if it ever loosens up and comes off the bolt has a fair chance of staying in the hole... Out in the bush it is easier to find a nut than a nut AND a bolt.

Id put them in this way too, then tack weld them so they cant come off.

Looking good!

Can you lower your spare so it sits down into the drawbar? Will give slightly better COG, and heaps better rear vision.

I agree with Jas, straight drawbar lengths would have been better/ easier

I used the tyre carrier off the LWB so it needed to sit on a 90 angle. The right angle below the tyre just supports a 235/75 which is sorta how I determined the height of the carrier. Just so happened it aligned spot on with a standard Zuke one.

At that height I can at least now see the trailer. Completely invisible beforehand.

Been a good exersice, I'm learning as I go. :P

Yeah but they are being fish plated apparently, AND the trailer will have a light payload, so it should do the job nicely

 The drawbar isn't cut the whole way through. The outer side of the SHS is continuous the entire length until the back portion where I should have measured twice and cut once.

Fish plates and shocks to be mounted this arvo. :)
Hopefully the weather will hold off and some painting will happen over the weekend.

The old trailer has certainly had a very serious "upgrade".

Mate the trailer has everything else now so it doesn't surprise me that the hardcore off road jockey wheel has a seat!

No injuries as all the force was taken by the trailer drawer bar bending.
The guy in the Patrol was my mate who I was going to the Cape with.

Had the trailer repaired in Cooktown and towed it home no worries.

His insurance should have it covered but I'll see how well tomorrow.

Thats tragic! :(

But I'll go out on a limb here and suggest that you fit a beefier drawbar. Ive rerpaired a few trailers tha were rear ended like that and never seen a drawbar fold up like that before.

And we need pics from the rest of the trip.
