It's not up to us to decide How much do you like it? How much does the seller want to sell it for?
How much experience do you have with modified 4x4's?? This thing doesn't sound like a run of the mill stocker. Maintenance and up keep on something like this could be interesting at best.
Start at the bottom and work your way up

How much of this is engineered?
I agree with Rusho. This could either be the best sierra of all time or mine field of problems.

I think that's half a car.
If all you drove was sand it might be awesome (so long as it didn't melt pistons) but If I has sorted a car like that I certainly wouldn't be selling it.
Some initial problems:
Not enough gearing - 5.12's aren't enough for 33's
No lockers?
Stock front axles?
Sure, that's not that much money to fix, but I reckon that's not all it's going to need. I'm guessing that this car is going to have some pretty flakey drivability - for example, it sounds like a stock compression G16B, with a huge turbo - now an internally stock G16 can't live with more than 6psi of boost. A big turbo and 6psi of boost isn't a recipe for a nice linear powerband. - now add 33's and tall gearing... It's going to be challenge to drive anywhere but the sand.
I think with some 4:1 transfer gears, 3.7's back in the diffs and a trimatic it could be cool in the bush, like it is now I think it would be a pig. and a terrible candidate for a first suzuki. WAY too much trouble.
Steve.

Hmm, well he (the seller) was asking what my budget was, I didn't want to offer a stupid amount that it wasn't worth. I'd be doing a lot of road driving and weekend bush and beach work. Like glass house runs and stuff. How much do you reckon I should offer? I was gonna get fatzook to look at it for me (if it's in my budget) so he can fill in some of the blanks as to wether it's a dodgy job.
Dave

I'll come and have a look at it for you mate, but with the amount of work thats done to it i'd be wanting a compression test, and chuck a sniffer up its arse to see what the fuel ratios are like. And take it for a GOOD test drive.
Oh, and just ask him straight up what he wants for it. No point in fucking around. You may just end up offering more than what he wants.

Hm ok, how hard it is to test compression and fuel ratios? I'll shoot Jim a text now.

You need a wet and dry compression test done ( for piece of mind) and a gas anilyser, of which I have niether

Find a big long hill on road, lug it at 2500rpm in a tall gear, and hold it there... and see how nervous the owner gets
A car has to be VERY well sorted to survive sand work. It loads the engine and cooling system up far more than any other condition.
Do you have any experience with aftermarket EFI or aftermarket turbos? If not, I think it might be impractical to consider this car as you are considering plenty of road use. Aftermarket EFI/Turbo cars don't normally live with lots of road driving. It tends to highlight the tuning flaws these setups generally have. OK for a quick squirt, not up to the daily grind.
Steve.

Ahhh but it looks so bad ass! And it's just what I want.. Minus the turbo. If the turb is removed will it still function normally, or will I need to replace the head, manifold etc?

Given the state of the wiring and ECU I would say it would be a fair amount of work to revert from turbo.

Why dont you put up photos of the zook.
Someone on here may reconise it and be able to give to an honest opinion.
Otherwise if the price was right on the zook and you really dont want the turbo etc im sure you could sell the motor/turbo/ecu package and put a standard G16 in and would be ahead. (Considering this zook seems to be what you really want)

Ah I think it seems a little too much trouble, perhaps I should just wait until I find a stock hard top for the right price? (given that I don't know much about turbo's engines and how much maintenance they [sound like] they require)

if its anything to go off,
4 months ago i purchased a sierra, (stock as a rock) for 4 grand. never ever been offroad. 122000kms, log book services, all in all great condition.
small bit of rust on the pillar behind plastic covers which i cut out n are now gone!
So good luck with it buddy. Keep looking they are out there!!
Be careful tho, i looked at 7-8 before hand and couldnt hand this bloke the cash quick enough..
dodgy rust cover ups and the like are catches!!
