i have found a g16b from a baleno but i want to shave the head and put bigger valves in it?? will it still work or will it hit do you think?
btw what valves are there for the 1.3 head??

any reason behind shaving of the head???
not really a major necessity, clean the ports up use a decent grind cam, good extractor & exhaust & you should get some results to keep you happy.

As far as I know any combo of head and block will fit. The difference between G16A and B blocks is only the pistons, A block has the shapes of 2 valves on the top and B block has the shape of 4.

I would still find something to work over going to a carby and losing 20 odd killawasps, you sjut wont get that back with any amount of porting and cams and still be nice to drive
AFAIK the head fits but you need a different cam belt to either the 1.3 or 1.6 one and the tensioner needs some jiggling

Maybe loose 26.8096514746 HP but at least I can fix the bugger if it breaks, not like a computer. Can you say Supercharger!!!!!! That'll fix ya wasps for ya.

mine has done funny things 3 times in the 50000km I have owned it
once was a vacuum leak, nothing to do with efi
once was a problem with teh airflow meter being damaged, even bruce managed to figure it was a problem
once the fuel pump died, cant help bad luck
not one of them required any knowledge past a screwdriver and some wd40 to fix, the same as a carby car
EFI is great for fixing, you get a big book which says what everything should do and you jsut test with a meter, dont even get dirty

i wanted 2 shave the head for lower compression, but i wont be shaving it too much (i work at an engine recon. workshop, and the guy hu does the heads says dont shave it too much.
so i wont have to worry about valves hitting pistons with the standard valves.but i want to put in bigger valves but dont know if u can even get any? and i want to do pistons aswel but dont know if u can get any? does any one know of any of these things?

what do you use?
and arent the 1.3 and1.6 heads i dentical? except for a fuel pump?
i herd the difference between a g16a/b is b has different conrods, pistons and the crank has a WEIGHT on it?

I'm doing a rebuild on a G16B at the moment. The A & B blocks have the same bore and stroke measurements. They have different compression due to different shaped pistons? If someone can tell me for sure that they have other differences that would be a help

Can you find out for sure?
The G13 runs a different belt than the G16. They have a different profile tooth. If you are going to use G13 head on G16 block then you will have to change pulleys. And work out which tensioner, probably G16 one.

in one of your posts you said you are shaving the head to lower compression. thats wrong. when you shave the head you up the compression, when you shave or mill the pistions you lower compression but you would only do this if you were putting some psi in the engine.
you normaly shave the head when rebuilding it to make sure its perfectly flat and will seal the head gasket right. that only takes off the smallest amount and will up your compression only a little bit.
i know the g13a /b engins have different cranks, rods, pistons. easy way to see is go look at the stroke and bore sizes and a manual.
have you got the engine yet? you could do a long rod stroker in the 1.3, use the 1.6 crank, rods. it will have heaps more toque down low and you dont have to worry about heads and mounts fitting because you are using the 1.3 block. down side is it wont rev as hard, maybe 6000 instad of 7000 or so

You probably already know this Zookkid but the heads are really prone to cracking too. Have a real good look when you strip it down.

1.6 crank wont fit in the 1.3 block. And the block height is so short that you would end up with a horrible rod/stroke ratio.

The rod/stroke ratio will still be shit, it's bad enough in the g16.
