hey guys ive been quoted what i beleive to be an awesome price for maxxis MA-751 in a 215/75 r15 @ $150 each.. he only has 4... i wanna know what you guys think of these cuz at the moment i have stock size bridgestones in a sf-405 all seasons??, which i think are the original tyres from 1993 haha i need a little more height... my main current terrain is anything from mud to rocks sand and everything in between including 100+km of highway driving a week at about 100km/h

is there anyone out there with experience with this rubber if so does it have its flaws... if so what are they? and how good are they off road! how good are they on road??

any help will be much appreciated!!

Mate, a 215/75 is only about 36mm taller, so it will only give you 18mm extra clearance so for the extra height alone its hardly worth it...

Going a bigger tyre will (if only slightly) reduce economy and drivability on the road. And it is noticable, cos I had the exact same tyres on my zook...

The 751 is a reasonably good tyre on the road, seems to wear pretty well, and it copes fine on sand and gravel... On the mud and rocks though, its not a great performer, but then find me a tyre that can do all of those terrains well.

IMO, on a stock geared Sierra (which is what I assume you have since you haven't specified anything at all!) you might as well stick with the standard size, particularly if you do a lot of highway km. Unless you wanna go even bigger and then get gearing to match...

I'm sure others will have a different opinion though

That is a good price, you will be saving about $20 to $30 on new ones... however, even though they are a good AT, they really dont have the tread pattern for mud...

I just got them for my GV, at $185 per tyre, but they dont have many sizes in 15in...
Another recommendation, is Kumho 825 LT-AT, had them on my VIt when i had it, good AT, they are the 2nd tyre down -

Both the Maxxis and Kumho are good onroad as well, with a speed rating of 160kph or more, so good stability and handling... hope this helps you...

thats what i run on my lwb, rocklobster and 235's... with a 1L speedo set up, it resets the speedo to stock, i checked it on those highway odometer check things... i think it was 100M out over 5Km's.... it's better then 11km's out at 100

I run 31's on stock gearing..

235's are a good size, you don't loose to much in h/way speed & you can still go lot's of place's..

I'm temporarily running 30x9.5 with stock gearing and IMO it's not good. it's light taking off in second gear with a stock geared and stock tyred zook all the time.
