Very nice joe! I really hope by the time I have my own house I have enough fab skill's to even warrant buying half the stuff you have.

I've probably missed it somewhere but what is your work background?

That looks pretty awesome joe. I like the look of that filler. Looks like it would prevent the usual oil patch you see down the back of most diffs from the filler bung. I like it alot. Once again, Top work mate. Love ya stuff :)

Those spring perches are absolute works of art. Can't wait to see some of this stuff fitted.

Are you still doing the day job, or have you got the green light to start out on your own?

no.....not leaving the day job in a hurry.....like i said its waay too much fun (4 wheeling and testing stuff for a living.....c'mon).

and that level has been with me for a while......and survived.

here is the cad image of the coily rear arm. i'm hoping to get a few more different arms to model so i can place them against the vit chassis when i scan that. worst case scenario is getting some arms flame cut and to suit the job. but i'll delve into that when i'm closer.

Since you're going to all this trouble.. Would an XLink style setup work on the front axle? For more flex..

firstly for those that think an x-link setup will be approved by most engineers you can get that out of your head.

if you read back you will see i want this to be %100 legal and not some abortioned "i'll just chuck 33's on it, drive like a f#@k wit, keep it registered and not worry about engineers" pos.

over the years i have come across many suzuki control arms. there are usually two types. those that are straight and those that have been snapped in an accident or severe (read stupid) abuse. i have even had people comming to me claiming they had a mechanic tell them thier arms were bent......only to place there arms against a new one and have it measure up identical. toyota ones are the wrong shape for what i need, let alone the bush bolt sizes. and don't say land-rover arms......won't go there. like i said i will be gaining data from various suzuki arms an going from there.

Engineer's dont like to give you the choice as to weather or not you drive a safe car or a dangerous piece of shit home, Maybe if it automaticly locked when you engage high range ,but who's got the money to make that happen...

sorry joe but i have to disagree... i have spoken to many coily owners... and it sceems that they break arms from flexing.. not abuse..

even spamwell broke a arm! and he was extremly soft on them...

just a question why are u useing radius arms??? not a 3link set up?

Wasn't aware it was hard to engineer
I know a guy with a Maverick that has an Xlink Front.. He has it pin-able for onroad use
And it's fully engineered

I don't think i gave you any reason to think i doubted your build, you fab some amazing gear
But it seems for all gains of a solid axle.. The Xlink would just be the icing on the cake
Still it's your car, build it your way

Joe must have Suzuki only in his blood. He wants to build with suzuki parts only. Even if they are shit. Imo, i dont see the point.

The housing is custom. Why not everything else?

Custom arms are alot of work to get approved. I'm going through these motions now, and it sucks. Destruction testing, X-ray, swerve testing, and all sorts of other shit. They even want to inspect my jig to ensure the parts are accurately reproduced. Big $$$ that as far as I am aware, nobody is willing to pay

I have seen a few tube jimny kits making it into australia with unknown bush sizing and compound, unknown tube thickness and grade, and no certification at all to say it is legal or safe to use in this coutry, yet a full set will run you a bill for $1200 8O

I like Joe's method for the simple fact that an engineer will sign off on it.

We are all in different states. Different rules. Different engineers pass different things. I rang 3 for mine. 1 wouldnt touch as of vsi50. 2 would but wanted to see. Custom links etc. Just weird. Thats all.
