I think Royce is right, you are far better off with a voltage sensitive dual battery isolator. The one below is from Supercheap and costs about $95 with all of the cabling required to put the second battery in.

On this one, I ended up running the red wire to the ignition so if the ignition is off or on accessory, the isolator is definitely off. By default it was connected to the main battery terminal of the isolator. The blue wire tucked away at the back right will force the isolator on if it is switched to earth.
