Post subject:  Hilux rear axle assembly ready to bolt in to jimny

Hi

some parts from an old project
Image

I have an axle assembly from a 4x4 hilux ( last of the live axle hiluxes) which has been shortened on the drivers side to suit a jimny wheel track. all original jimny control arms have been attached to the hilux housing.

this is now ready to bolt into any jimny.
I have a tailshaft ready to suit and
the handbrake will need to be set up to suit a jimny
Image
I drove the jimny for about 20000km's with this diff and i had no problems. I wanted to eventually buy a hilux front diff housing and complete the mods to the front also.
Image
this is a jimny front housing with sierra 413 swivil to freewheeling hubs, the axles are running 410 cv's but axles and cv's are damaged.
the housing can be used as a donor for control arm mounts for the hilux housing

this would be an excellent project for someone wanting to build a tough jimny but wanting to keep the original wheel track specs.

I want $500 for the lot! and its located in wollongong

selling due to moving interstate and its too bloody heavy to drag all over the countryside
Gav 0412420460 or pm me

Thanks

pretty sure they are different... installed a lift in a coily the other week and it looked completely different to my jimny

I can't remember what ratio is in the hilux, it would be a 4.1 or 4.3?? centre came from a Hiace it's been sitting under the house for a while so the finer details have escaped my faulty memory its an open diff centre (not lsd) and swaping the mounts wasn't a big job plenty of grinding and welding. johno, I think you'll find the way the shocks mount on a coily is different for a start and am not sure of the distance between spring perches but yes leading and trailing arms from jimny and coily are the same bushes have evolved over the years

its been shortened 118 or was it 120mm not alot it has a current track width of a standard 2001 jimny but by shortening the drivers side it has moved the diff centre more to the drivers side also bring the pinion flange and transfer output shaft more in line. there are no tailshaft vibes at all.

Mounts etc are identical, BUT the jimny mounts are 40mm further apart than a coily. I looked into this too

there are 4 sunrasia rims only problem is 2 have jimny stud pattern and the other 2 are 6 stud hilux 4 sime tyres 215/75r15's 50% tread left the rubber is probably getting a bit hard now so little less traction on the road but a little more fun and life out of them too :)

I'm moving to tassie probably in about 2 months (waiting for the sale of my business to finish) so there is a bit of time.
