I just check and it says 3 dot. thanks guys. im assuming because it is pre 86, that I would use premuim fuel with a lead additive. can any one confirm? |

Use whatever just don't use E10 Japanese cars are meant to run unleaded anyway |

Run unleaded in your sierra. No additive. (except diesel) Any car will run on unleaded. They Just not to their full power as per octane rating. And will eventually destroy the valves as with no protection in the fuel. Japanese cars does not mean it is built for unleaded. Some yes. Some no. |

Any Japanese car with an alloy head will run UNLEADED fine as it will already have hardened valve seats. NO additives needed.

TZAR what is wrong with E10 we had best get used to using alcohol fuel 4 our vehicles s well as our bodies, we will very soon have no choice. |

For one E10 because of the alcky is hydroscopic, it attracts water not so nice in a 4b. Another the rubber diaphragms (carby and fuelpump) are not suited to it and could melt or disintegrate them. Ok fair enough, but... i put Metho in my fuel tank every so often to get rid of the water, so it mix's with the unleaded... and isnt Metho Ethanol ? I wish we had the E10 here on the west coast, i would buy it ! Ethanol burns very clean, and that means less carbon deposits in the engine ! 
And what about all the Ethanol burning Dragsters, they wouldnt use it if it had problems... |

Yes definitely use Premium Unleaded, the Zook engines love it !
Even though i dont use a lead additive for every tank fill, i still use it for about every 5th tank refill, for peace of mind, try and get a lead additive that also cleans the fuel system, and burns off carbon in the combustion chamber... I use a product called, " Flash Lube " a Valve Saver Upper Cylinder Lubricant, it also cleans the fuel system, Carbys, and Injectors, it treats 1000Ltrs, comes in a 1ltr bottle, you only have to add 50mls per tank refill of 50ltrs, it costs about $15 to $20 per bottle, but it works out to be about 85c per 50mls per tank... some other lead additives cost about $5 for one treatment 
I also add about 250mls of Metholated Spirits, every now and again, usually when i add the lead additive, to remove any moisture/water in my tank, its an old bushies trick, and i find it makes the engine run better with continued use...
I am sure others will disagree with me, but i have never had a problem doing it with any of the Zooks i have owned ! Hope this helps you Jake !
