I know that you can get an ARB air locker for the rear diff of a coily. I believe this is the same P/No. as a leafy rear locker.

I'm pretty sure that the front diff in a coily has only 2 spider gears as opposed to 4 in the leafy. From what I understand, ARB don't do a front diff for the coily as the market is too small.

My question is this:

Can anything be swapped/modified from a leafy front diff into a coily front diff to allow a leafy front air locker to work within the coily?

Thanks for reading,

Brad.

normal sierra diffs, front or rear, have a 10 bolt ring gear pattern. the coily front though is unique in having an 8 bolt pattern.

I have heard of a Jimny front airlocker being moded to suit. I Don't know anything about it myself, just remember reading it somewhere. Maybe have a search around the interwebs.

a vit/ sierra front. to mod one you would have to re-machine and drill the bolt pattern for the crown wheel. becuase there will be overlapping holes this can lead to movement and stress failures of the cap. plus, there is no way in hell it would ever be warrantied. but if you got one second hand cheap it may be worthwhile. in the past i have converted coily fronts to use a standard sierra centre with 5.1's and used a non modded locker.

What's involved with that? Is it component swapping or fabricating from scratch?

requires a sierra centre, knockles and steering, and some machining of the hubs or fitment of sierra outer axles.
