Post subject:  VITARA 4 SPEED AUTO ISSUES ???

1994 JLX, with 4 speed auto, behind 1600 EFI......When cold, engages all gears EXCEPT reverse, absolutely nothing.....When it warms up 3-4 min, reverse comes back OK......

Also on highway, doesn't hold OD when cold, but OK when warm ?

Checked fluid level - fine....

Any suggestions/advice ?

the selector on the side of the auto may need an clean and or adjustment. after a while they become tempramental. the O/D will not kick in until coolant temp rises above 40° or so.
