Hello friends!! I've got a G16A in my sierra, which is still running the 1.3 gearbox, clutch and flywheel. The clutch is getting really sad, so im about to replace it with a tonka tough HD kit. I believe the vitara clutchs are only 10mm wider than the sierra, so im wondering if i can use the 1.6 flywheel, clutch onto the 1.3 box? Theres probably a real obvious reason, but im unable to find out myself cause i havent got the 1.6 clutch anymore!! Thanks heaps :D

yes please tell. every sierra clutch i have done i have used a vitara input shaft to line it up as they are the same. GTI is a different story though.

oohhhhh,, thats interesting. Im wanting to run a tonka tough clutch for obvious reasons, and the company im going through isnt to keen on selling me the HD sierra kit. Instead, they want to somehow work out how to use a vitara clutch, into the 1.3 box. They have done bucket loads of research for me so far, and the next thing im doing is taking the box, and the buggered 1.3 clutch into them, and their going to play around with all different suzuki clutch plates till they find one that matchs the 1.3 gearbox spline. All of this so i can run a clutch which is 10mm bigger!! Whats everyones thoughts? Should i just get the HD 1.3 kit, which is 40% more clamping capacity, or should we keep looking into a more custom setup??

shep, someone has sold you either a 1.0 litre clutch or one to suit a swift 1.3. i have never been asked the question of what spline i want when ordering for a sierra, only what flywheel i'm using.

I got asked what spline, and also what the width of the shaft is.. mine is a 20 spline, and its 22mm wide. Soooo..... has anyone had any troubles with running a HD kit?? hehe

i threw the clutch kit at the manager, fat prick refused to refund my money. it is lucky he was able to
duck fast. i had to pull my gearbox out 2 times to get it right and broke 3 cables. i was
spending around $2500 a month with them but haven't spent a cent since.
i did get asked what spline when i went to another parts shop.

Recently put a warm 1.6 into my Sierra with 5.14 transfer and 3.9 diffs. Used an Exedy unit from ARB. Have caned it and cannot fault it. Save yourself some grief and go with this setup.

ONE of the problems with "aftermarket" suppliers is that they use Their suppliers (manufactures) catalogue, (I used to work in automotive aftermarket, not Repco mind you). That is why we want to know ALL the information. Not just what you think you have. Repco normally use PBR / Clutch industries clutch's...

Have a look at there catalogue for yourself. 18 spline and 20 spline inputs..

I was told there is a 19 tooth and a 20 tooth spline that will fit a 91 1.3 at autobahn so there is obviously some confusion around.

dunno, go to exedy.com.au and look up WT sierra there are 2 clutches, I think the 18 spline is the less commone one even though they say its the more common one, I think it was flat flywheel but whatever the listing for it says is correct :)

yes the entire kit is exactly the same as a swift and barina, but then they changed with coilys so it wasnt a late model thing

Well, heres my options, and buggered if i know what to do.. help!!
My current set up is a g16b, with 1.3 flywheel, clutch and box.
option 1: Get the 1.3 flywheel machined to take a swift clutch/pressure plate (HD kit)

option 2: Leave the 1.3 clutch as is, but renew it all with HD stuff.

Option 3:Get the 1.3 flywheel machined to take a vitara clutch/pressure plate (HD kit)

I like number 2, cause its so much easier!! But, would the HD 1.3 kit handle what im running? (6:5-1 gears, 35" silverstones, G16A, twin lockers). I dont abuse the clutch, the main reason for replacing this current one is cause its simply worn out!! Please help!! :D

I'm running one of extreme's hd clutches. had it on the 1.3 for a while before fitting the 1.6.
Its had some comp abuse, which includes mud and water drenching and its held up well.
just done that west oz trip towing the trailer with all that gear and it didnt feel any different.

Its a flash pink one
