| Post subject: | Wheel offset and wheelbearings |
Everyone says big offset kills bearings. But how bad is it? How long will bearings last? I know that's. Broud questions as alot of factors come into play. I'm thinking of getting my wheels cut maybe an extra 1.5,2inches wider. Current have about a -28offset |

I've had no drama's running wide rims & 31's on my Vitara. |

i have custom max offset on 15x7s.. my wheel bearings are fine, thats with a fair bit if on road driving. lot better offroad as i can fit in tyre tracks on the beach (just) feels stable.. wheel bearings have lasted a year plus. havent seen much mud though.. yet 
can get pics and stuff if ya want |

M&M engineering (now i think are ABT) flip em for about $50ea, but you have to paint them your self... If they stop doing them then there is a shop round my joint that does em. The maximum legal track gain on standard axles is 25mm. You could just go some wider rims... There is regulation tho relating to weight, I'm not sure how much shorty's weight but under 900kgs +.5" over 900kgs +1.0" 1200kgs +2.0". (that's the width from the factory rims)... haha good one atari

More often than not your bearings are failing because of the seals getting destroyed in the bearings, all the grease getting tainted then collapsing. The rear wheel bearing in NT are a 6207.2RSR.C3 and the WT are based on the same style but have the spacer built in. These bearings have a static load rating of 1.5 tonne and a dynamic load rating of 2.7 tonne. it wouldn't be the easiest job exceeding these loads with just a set of wider rims on a sierra weaves. |

i have 15x8 with a -50 offset had them on for a few months no issues yet. done a fair bit of beach and road getting back into the bush now. im thinking of going another inch when i get my 33s |

how many inches is that,. my rims now around around a -28 offset and going to add 3inches to the offset. maybe even 4 if i can get it |
