I know its not a zook, but a friend has an igition problem with her mini. There is no spark at sparkplugs or from the ignition coil high tension lead. I have a feeling the ignition coil has a problem.
How can I confirm that it's the coil which is causing the problem?
I have used a multimeter on the coil terminals and I get 12v on each terminal and also 12v on the high tension output. Is this correct?
Anyone got any ideas?

I put the mulitmeter on the high tension side while the car was off, not cranking.
Its a 96 mini with fuel injection so I doubt it still has points ignition.

Oh!!! Check ignition module then. Or just set fire to it...

Agree with steknig about the test thing. Almost impossible to test with a multi, the cranking output of a coil can exceed 20 or 30000 volts, sometimes greatly higher with high performance ignition systems. If you were a betting man you would go with the ignition module or coil, or whatever along those lines a mini might have

Burn it, or you could check ALL fuses. then burn it.

Sounds like Lucas, the prince of darkness has got hold
if you have power both side of the coil its probably not the coil, next step if you do have no spark is pull the negative lead off the coil and jam a test light in there with the other side connected to power and see if it flashes while you crank it, if it does the coil is had it, if not its something else like the module or something random
though if you went out and hit the key it would probably start now anyway
