I have a 1992 SWB vitara. The Tacho is not working, and I am considering an after market tachometer. Where is the pulse pick up located on this model? ECU or coil?

I assume you have a TBI 8v model, Australia didn’t receive that model so local experience will be patchy. I suspect it will be off the coil as per the carb version.

I’d determine why the stock tach isn’t working- it might be a simple fix.

Hello Steve,

It is a 16v injected model. I have swapped out the tacho head foe another, but no go. I thought I may be able to check if there is in fact a pulse from the source also. Some info says it originates from the the radio suppressor at the coil. Not sure what that looks like though.

Yes, tach signal is brown with a white trace from memory.
