Hi all
Earlier in the build I replaced tail lights and indicators they all worked perfectly, but since replacing the indicator stalk switches with the wipers on the other side - the park lights shine as full beam, the dip beam and full beam don't change, plus the indicators don't indicate and the rear lights being the tail and number plate also do not work which makes me point back to the big multi plug of the indicator stalk assembly - so more circuit tracing and working out what should connect to what to come, has anyone worked out a key for what powers what on the big plug of the indicator stork, I did think about running a 12v battery and stick the live feed into every plug until you work out which wire feeds what, along with a wiring diagram, but that only gives me the answer on the car side, I need to know from the switch side what goes where to match it up correctly, and of course the wire colours are not the standard colours, or do they. The replacement stalk switch seems to have the same colours but in a different order. I don't want to just pull it all apart and replug them as it is not easy getting the wires out of the connection block - if you have a good tip please share on the easy way to slide the small wires and crimps out and in without breaking them.
- if you know the order the wires on the plug should be please advise as the wiring diagram doesn't show this
-has anyone else had issues like this?

Thanks Andy

When you say you replaced the indicator switch with wipers on the other side, are you saying the complete combination switch assembly or you got a left hand drive type with the wipers on the right?

Is the unit a new aftermarket copy?

If it’s another second hand one is it a Samurai one or a SJ413 one as I know they look different and could possibly be wired differently.

It was a complete switch assembly replacement for a Samurai.
I tried a cheap one and it had the wipers and indicators back to front with the wipers where the indicators should be. I pulled it apart and tried to rebuild the original and was not happy with the result so got another after market one with the wipers and indicators (on the right side)

When I plugged it in I left it until the next working session and when I came back to it found all the lights not working as they should.

I think I have to match the switch to the wires on the vehicles at the multi plug. I planned to get a circuit diagram out as the colours on the vehicle side of the plug should match the circuit diagram and try and find the switch for it even though it is going to be a different colour, there is a circuit board as part of the wiring of the switch set up so it is not easy to trace what wire goes to where on the switch assembly.

Any suggestions?

Thanks Andy

Sounds like a they didn’t copy the genuine one properly.

Do you still have the original?
You can start with just matching wire colours the pin location. Assuming they copied the wire colours. But my money would be on this will look ok but you will need to trace each wire up into the switch body and swap wires as needed.

Wire colours are different.
I have got the original one and I am recording the colours and then going back to the circuit diagram and trying to work out where it should go. The trouble is it is old and hard to tell the yellow/red from the red/yellow and red/white so have also tried to trace the wire back to see what it connects to.

I may end up using the old switch and put that back in as the reason I took it out is the steps between the park lights and main beam is not very big or clear and the wiper side has been twisted and cracked, however it maybe a better option than spending hours with a wiring diagram and a circuit tester.

If I get annoyed with the tracing and I have plan B.

How do you get the wires out of the 13 pin connection plug if I find the ones causing the issue without breaking them?

Thanks Andy
