My 1997 Vitara right hand drive has no low or high beam headlights.
Tee parking/side lights work fine, the passing (high beam ) works. fine.
I have traced it to potentially being a negative circuit relay problem, since if I short the yellow/red wire to ground low an high beams work.

Does anyone know where the below relay is - I have +12v on the purple/blue wire on the loom connector for the multifunction switch.
My other option is to put a new relay on the yellow/red wire to ground and power it from the ignition switch - lights cant be left on then!
Thanks

Assuming the diagram you are using is correct for your car - it's behind the dash, to the right of the console - says so right on the diagram.

I'm not being funny here, it is important to use the correct documentation, which I know can be hard to find, but, if/when the documentation doesn't match it's not unusual to end up looking for a non-existent needle in a haystack. Not all years of Vitara had headlight relays.

That out of the way - assuming you have a RHD vehicle - try looking under the driver's side dash towards the outer wall - also try switching the sidelights on/off - if there are relays, you should hear the sidelight relay click as it goes on & off, the headlight relay should be in the same general area.

Thanks for your reply. The wiring diagram is the closest that I could find to match my car. I have taken a few panels off and searched but the only relays that I could find were behind the ECU on the right under the dash. Yes one is the parking relay that clicks and I did assume that the headlight relay would be next to it. But I cannot see without removing the instrument cluster and from posts on forums the speedo cable it a painful to get to to remove.
So I think that I will go with a new after market relay is a better location

Also it can be a break in the wiring,Suzuki in the 1990's used very thin wiring in their looms.
Local Auto-electric guy won't work on them, takes to long to find/fix.

Good luck, hopes it the relay otherwise you have to run new wire.
