| Post subject: | My observation on fuel type and consumption/performance |
During my recent trip I filled up with 91, E10, 95 and 98 and found something interesting. The best fuel consumption was with E10 and 95, then 91 with 98 being the worse, and there was bugger all difference in performance or distance between 91 and 95, I'd say 15km more at best. But the surprising thing was 98 gave no better performance that I could notice but gave about 30km less range. Weirdest yet the E10 gave the best range and I'm convinced the engine felt a little smoother on it then anything else. Around town I'm getting 465km to a tank and on the highway it was around 440km with the E10, I wonder if due to emissions or similar it was set up to run on it. |

The engine may not be mapped for 95 or 98. I can assure you cars which are mapped to run on 98 are more efficient (and in some instances actually cheaper to run) on the higher octane. |

People poo poo dual fuel LPG petrol because of the LPG mileage. But that's not the fuels fault. You are running the petrol engine on LPG. LPG has a much higher octane than even 98. So just run what works best. |

Well that's it, I could get it mapped for higher octane fuel, or I could leave it as it is and use the cheaper fuel. It's not a high performance car so I know what I will be doing. |
