I just got back from a trip to Ayres rock and one of the two things that annoyed me about the new 5 door was its petrol reading.
It's got a 40lt tank but every time I filled up when it was just on empty I could only put 30lt in. Even running it until the lights and warning message came on it only took 32lt. Most of the time I was filling up when it was only 100km left on the fuel reading and I would only get 22lt-25lt in the tank.
I would love to be able to reset it so that empty read after 35lt instead of 30lt, that extra 5lt makes a difference when driving between petrol stations.
I know it doesn't seem like much but always having 8-10lt in the tank makes it seem like 1/4 of the tank isn't there.

Tanks that are complex shapes will result in a non linear reading from the gauge. It’s an unavoidable compromise.

Use your trip meter rather than the range information which will always be conservative.

That's what I've always done, but the fuel economy changes a lot depending on highway or city driving and it still doesn't stop warning messages coming up, and it's a pretty significant alert at that.
A reserve tank would solve the issue, but I'm going to need a tow bar and that complicates things a bit.
Guess I will just get used to it.
