| Post subject: | G16A transplant - no fire |
Greetings to all. I have googled myself stupid looking to clarify and identify a distributor issue. Maybe one of you fine folk will know exactly what I need to look at. Purchased a 1994 2dr softop Sierra. It has had a G16A put in it. This is a 16v epi. We got it running with some jiggering with relays and stuff but stripped it painted it and is back together. It has a Mitsubishi ecu mounted in cab with a 22 pin and 26 pin on it. I have found multiple electrical diagrams which could be correct for the engine minus a detail or two. Went over the harnesses and soldered joints that had been twisted together and taped. Issue is now distributor! Metered everything and replaced ignition leads, rotor, dizzy cap and coil. I have 12v at coil on ignition via black white I have voltage on brown white Noise suppressor meters correct resistances. Zero spark! 1. I find it difficult to find definitive info on an apparent crank angle sensor. Is it a hall on the rotor shaft somewhere and this is killing it? 2. I bridged out the clutch sensor so at least it would crank. Is there something else that may prevent firing that is like this. I did not see any circuits on electrical but that’s not to say there is something. 3. All diagrams I have indicate a condenser on the 12v black and white. No images I have seen or research on this dizzy shows any condenser. I would certainly think it does not require one. 4. Orange wire from ecu B4 from memory should be sending a pulse to the dizzy? Am I looking for a 1v or 2v At the end of the day it ran before I soldered up the twist joins but not before I pulled it out and put it back in. I have been fighting this for three days on and off and I am never one to back down but I do believe I have overlooked something most basic or you can tell me it’s the igniter or some other bloody thing I have forgotten. Any insight or ideas are welcomed from all you enthusiasts Thank you in advance and I will respond to any follow ups. |
