G’day I am doing up my old Zook , not much experience in these matters so I wanted to ask - I want to put some polished alloy rims and AT tyres on my car but I don’t know how big/ wise I can go without using spacers or doing a lift etc . I currently have stock Sierra rims with old 205/70R15 road tyres on it . Can anyone advise me here ? Thanks very much. |

I'm not 100% sure if they are the same, but I have run 235/75R15 on Sierra 1.0L with no problems |

Thanks for the response , I should of mentioned initially, I have a 1989 1.3 ltr SJ70. Any help with a wheel supplier that does alloy 15x7 rims to suit would be awesome too . Thanks. |

I assume you're talking about the sj70 listed on your profile. (Edit: maybe I should read the title properly 215/75/r15 is the biggest legally, the biggest that fits without any other modifications as far as tyre clearance goes, and, importantly, the biggest without the need to rectify the gearing. (Although that's debatable for off-road use - i'd personally want reduction gears in a sierra regardless of tyre size for that use) Suspension lift won't help clear tyres, although a body lift can assist in certain aspects. Spacers aren't good for much either, (apart from being illegal) they will just make fitting larger tyres more difficult, except for leaf spring clearance. (depending on the tyre) In short, 215/75/15. Anything bigger requires work to make the tyres fit and gearing needs to be rectified to have a nice, driveable car. |

Thanks Beery , That’s just what I’m looking for . I don’t want to go down the path of spacers and lifts , I am happy to keep the old girl pretty stock . |
