| Post subject: | Baleno Auto engine removal |
Hi guys I've got a 2000 Automatic Baleno that I'm taking the engine out of to put in the Sierra. I've only ever swapped an engine on a RWD manual car, so I don't really know how to take out an auto engine, can I unbolt the auto from the engine while it's still in the car and just remove the engine? Or do I need to remove the engine and auto at the same time? Thanks for the help. |

I unbolted the lot and dropped it onto a pallet then raised the car up with and engine crane and pulled the motor/box out from underneath it. just dropped the entire front crossmember in 1 go. |

Generally speaking, you remove an access plate under the bellhousing and unbolt the torque converter (one bolt at a time) slide it back, and then separate the engine from the transmission, being that the Baleno is transverse engined and there is not that much space it might be easier to pull it as a unit. I've seen transverse engined manual transmission vehicles where it was easier to pull the engine & transmission as a unit, just to get to the clutch |
