Hi all, is there anybody out there that can help me source a complete exhaust system, (with expansion chamber) for my lj50?. I am desperate to finish my project!! I realize finding an original system in good nick will be impossible but surely somebody on this forum has had one built before now.
I live in Far North Queensland and just cannot find anybody up here who is interested in making one. Most engineering shops are to busy and all the exhaust shops I've been too have never even heard of an LJ50 let alone know what an expansion chamber is.
I have the cast iron manifold but thats it.

Any help form anybody would be greatly appreciated. I am also contactable on 0487493329
Cheers Luke.

I have built several, including a hot-rod triple chamber jobby. My design for my LJ50 is on LJ10.com ... somewhere.

That said I did just have a quick look and didn't see it? But ... I am sure it's there somewhere, will look a bit more later 'sarvo.

Basically; from memory, you need an 80 degree bend in 2 inch pipe, 12inch in length, leading into a 8-10 inch cone expanding to 4 inch. Parallel for 6 inch then taper down to 1.5 inch, over 5 inches.

Cheers Eddy, yes mate this is the design i have taken into several shops (closest being 4 hours away) the problem I am having is that no body wants to take the job on, which is why I am looking further afield. And that is just the chamber. I also need the tail pipe fabricated and right size muffler. out of all the exhaust shops I visited the smallest muffler they carried even looked too big.

You wouldn't have contact details of the person who built yours by any chance?

Built the chambers myself, mostly from big exhaust tube, although one of'em I was a bit desperate/broke so used a bit of a car tail shaft. It worked well though, and the bloke who bought the car from me kept it for at least 3 years that I know of.

Bloke who did the rest of the system retired years ago.

Hey Eddy,

LJ10 seems to be a bit neglected these days, I've been trying to join for months with no luck.

Is there a build thread for your car anywhere else, pretty keen to build a grunter LJ50 myself.

Thanks

"neglected"

Yeah ... it is that! :(

Don't recall ever doing a build thread as such. we're talkin' 2005 on the last one, and I hadn't really gotten into all this hi-tech digital shit at the time ... still haven't really.
I think I took a few pix on an old undigital camera, so there may be some pix around somewhere lurking in a plain brown envelope ...
