hello from canada, i've got a GV with the 3.2L Alloytec only 122k a little thirsty but very smooth! there's very limited info on it even on the vast internet (at least in English) just wondering if anyone can share more tidbids about the motor and/or 4wd system/t-case (also Aisin??) especially its origins and production vehicle is a 2009 assembled in japan not sure how much i trust wikipedia: "[they] were previously produced in Fishermans Bend, Port Melbourne, Australia and remain in production at the following four manufacturing locations: St. Catharines, Canada; Flint Engine South in Flint, Michigan, United States; Romulus Engine Plant in Romulus, MI and Ramos Arizpe, Coahuila, Mexico. ... Holden has built its own 3.2 L (3,195 cc) version of the High Feature engine in Australia produced between 2005 and 2010" can anyone confirm or provide more info? thank you. EDIT: so some Chinese website said it's built in Japan which makes sense. Is it 100% Holden design or are they just using the block? |

Not sure about the specifics of this one, but early 90's Holden rebadged a few suzukis (Barina & Drover) using entirely suzuki built cars. Wouldn't put it past them to have done similar down the track, as it is still common practice among brands. |

Complete engine as far as I am aware. I don't have a strong opinion on where the engine in your car was manufactured, but it's entirely possible it was Fisherman's bend. Holden was very keen for export markets as the plant wasn't running at anything like capacity after the demise of the GM Family II engine which had a strong export market. Local commodore sales of <50K V6's weren't going to be enough. Gearbox/transfer is Aisin-Warner built IIRC. Diffs are likely made by Hitashi, who make many, many Japanese axle assemblies. (Sierra diffs are made by Hitachi) |

wow the plot thickens! what are the chances Suzuki Japan takes a motor from Aus then for sale in the Americas did that plant ever assemble vehicles? The JTS 3.2 in Alfa Spider is also from Port Melbourne |

It’s entirely likely. It’s a global industry. Fisherman’s bend was predominantly a foundry and machine shop. Vehicle production ceased there in the mid 1950’s. GM Holden were produced at a number of plants around Australia but in the last ~30 years up until the end of production in 2017 at Elizabeth in South Australia. |
