Long Ranger company based in Newcastle NSW are manufacturing a long range fuel tank for the latest Jimny model. I have a 2015 3rd gen Jimny. Does anybody know if the undercarraige is the same or how similar.
They install a 80l tank and need to reposition the exhaust.
Not sure if they cut off some mounting lugs/plates.

+1 I would like to know the same..

When you look at the chassis they are similar. they use gen3 suspension parts on the gen 4 and they mount the same. so who knows.. perhaps the gen4 had to be released to get some traction on a larger fuel tank built..

Tre has one as well, but it is hugely expensive for just 20L. then I rather jerrycan it still.

I have a 37L second fuel tank in my 2006 jimny, from long range automotive. might be worth a look into them.

There's no listing for anything Suzuki on the Long Range Automotive website - where does the tank fit? Got any pictures?

Hi Sookie, I also couldn't find anything on their website. So do I understand that you have 2 fuel tanks all fitted underneath the vehicle?
Did Long Range Automotive do the installation? Which branch? Did they data plate?
I will try calling them.
Pictures would be nice.

I rang a suzuki dealer and asked for a copy of the parts breakdown of both the gen3 and the gen4 fuel tank installation. The guy was a bit busy, still nothing.
Would be nice to see and compare the mounting plus the plumbing and filter/pump installation.
I looked on the UK zook forum also. In their "How to" section seems to indicate that the removal /installation of the fuel tank is the same.

I tried to buy a Auxiliary jimny tank a few years ago and they went keen on selling them. Would only do it if they had the car.
At first they even denied making them until I sent photos.

yeah, 2 fuel tanks with little button and gauge push it and it transfers into main tank. its well made and was built and installed by them. there are 2 fill holes behind fuel flap. will get some photos

Well I gave up trying local sources, and bought a tank from overseas. Needless to say it cost a bomb, but making a custom tank is a nightmare to shape to fit, as well as probably illegal, and potentially would cost more than the car is worth.
It took a while to arrive but I expected that - freight was $100. Turned up in two parts, fittings by air, and the tank itself by sea. Tank well packaged in 25mm foam sheets and heavy cardboard, and wrapped in waterproof paper. Quality looks excellent!
I will post an update and more pictures here when I see how it fits under the car. Fitting will take a while as I want to rustproof behind the tank while it is out (hopefully there is no rust!), and investigate an uprated fuel pump (suggestions welcome!!).

Why do you want to push more pressure at your FPR?

I have not checked the fuel pressure yet, but I'm a little suspiciousl that the M18 may need more FP capacity. The M18 Lianaa pump is a different model, and higher capacity/pressure.
My wide band air/fuel gauge shows quite lean in most load ranges, but steady cruising is reasonable. Loaded the engine is running on the hot side. Heavy 4wd low range work has it overheating (yes the ac was on at the time). I believe the fuel system defaults to open loop and map tables under load, rather than closed loop via the o2 sensor.
Being stingy, I don't want to dyno the thing unless I have to, and even then, I'm not sure if they can access/modify the ECU mapping. So first fuel pressue, then pump if needed. After that, look at modifying/reducing diameter of the MAF tube to increase air velocity. This should trick it to give more fuel.

What is the capacity of the new tank?
Do you have a link?
Still keen on doubling the fuel tank capacity, the advantage with Long Range was that their products are data plated. I thought the plastic(?) tanks weren't data plated in Australia. Which would mean insurance issues and selling issues. I think I saw one installation that you had to cut off one of the original tank brackets to install the new tank. That would make it hard to go back to original if you were selling.

This is outside the scope of this thread but if fuel pump flow is the issue it won't show lean "at most load ranges" It will get progressively leaner is injector duty cycle increases.

Uprating fuel flow without consideration of FPR flow is a recipe for poor running and a range of misleading running issues - Such as cold start will probably be fine, hot start could be a mess. The car will show rich at light load but fine at high load/high rpm. it might even show fine at cruise because once the car goes to closed loop it will trim the fuel back to cope. IF you're using the M18 FPR, then I'm sure it can cope with the M18 fuel pump, but it's not clear your problem is at all associated with fuel flow.

Steve, I'm still using the M13 pump, and FPR. When I get to check the pressure, I will open another thread on this.
