My rear washer nozzle leaks when parked on inclines. I've looked for a non return valve but have not found one, I ordered a part based on my description from Suzuki and have been delivered '38496-81A01 Joint washer hose'. I cannot find this part on the car and don't think it is the right part, it looks like its just a connection for passing a hose through a panel. I think it is the solid washer nozzle that sprays water up from behind the rear spare wheel, but I dunno. Anyone else has this issue and sorted it? Thanks |

Gudday!! I’m doing a lot of guess work here, a fair bit more info would help. Start with what the car is, I’m guessing a Jimny but can’t be sure. The part number you listed is a “joint, washer hose”, I’m guessing this does not serve as a one way valve but you’re likely right, it’s joins the rear washer hoses from each side of a panel. This is the diagram, item 22 is that part number. ![]() Right. So does the front leak at all? I can see from the diagram (but I’m not certain what car you have so this might not be correct) that there are two washer pumps, one for the back and one for the front. I suggest swapping over the two pumps and seeing if the problem transfers to to front washers or at least resolved the rear washers leaking. As far as I can tell there is no other form of non-return valve. |

Stop for a minute and think about what you're asking and how it relates to your complaint. Q - What does a non-return valve do? A - It prevents a fluid or gas from flowing "backwards" or returning to it's source. If the complaint is fluid flowing to the rear washer nozzle when parked on an incline, then the flow direction is to the rear of the vehicle, which is the normal flow direction, how ill a non-return valve cure the problem without at the same time preventing flow when you need to wash the rear screen? As has been mentioned, details of the vehicle would certainly help but I can't help wondering how much of an incline you have to park on to get the washer tank high enough that you can get a gravity feed through the pump to the nozzles. |

Mmm sorry guys a vehicle certainly would help. 2012 Jimny. The diagram you have posted is the only one I have been able to find online. But it is not the same as my car. And yesI do agree that a non return valve is not the best description of the failed part I'm looking for. I do say failed in the fact that one day the rear washer started leaking and emptying the washer bottle on minor inclines like rear parking to the kerb, type parking spaces, even parallel parks will drain the washer bottle. I have found a long spring in the washer hose in the the rear door, but what the spring connects to is hidden under wrapping where it is bundled with the wiring loom. I suspect it is a diaphragm of sort, that under the pressure of the washer pump will open and allow fluid to flow and when under no pressure returns to a sealed seated position and stops the water from leaking out. |

From the same topic on another forum: Quote: If its just kinda leaking out when the car's parked facing up a slope etc that's what was happening to mine and was just the wee black inline non return valve that had went. Pretty generic part that you can get off eBay no bother. Located behind the plastic trim on the boot door which just pops off, although it comes off easier if you open the boot then lock it so you can wiggle it past the wee locking button thing. Best of luck. I believe he was talking about number 9 on this parts diagram: |

I can't upload a photo of mine unfortunately, it is the piece immediately above number 11 It is a one way valve, going by the direction arrow and the little loaded ball bearing inside. I guess to keep the hose primed. I really should put my glasses on these days, it lives in the rear door and is very easy to find once the rear door skin is removed. I'm also assuming the spring in the line is to stop the hose kinking as it bends between the body and through the rear door. Nothing to do with my leaking problem. Thanks for the reply's. Cheers Nige |
