is there anyone who makes a gvm upgrade for the 2019 Jimny as i would love to put some gear on her aand still be legal tia.

No, you will have to go to an Engineering Signatory to ask what they will require to certify any upgrade to the GVM.

As the Jimny is not a mainstream load-carrying vehicle, there won't be any retail off-the-shelf kit that comes with compliance pre-approval.

You might find it easier to sort this out prior to purchase and first registration, but it still won't be a cheap/easy exercise.

I asked an engineer about doing a GVM upgrade on an older model Jimny, he said I would have to pass a brake fade test and a lane change test with the car loaded at GVM. This gets pretty spendy as you have to rent a race track and a driver. It's best to talk to an engineer about these things, lots of 3rd hand information on forums. ;)

re: Lane change test - when I did mine, my engineer used to do the track once a year. That way he'd gang up all his jobs onto the one day, and we all split the cost of track hire and driver fees (and the engineer's presence) - My lane change test cost me $600 and there was only 3 of us there being tested.

100% talk to a few engineers, and go with the one who you get along with best. They all have to play to the same rule book, so might as well choose one who's interested in what you're doing and you get along with lol

The OP is in Victoria.

The GVM upgrades for, say, the 79 series are type approved. A 2019 Jimny GVM upgrade isn't.

Just because the car has a legal GVM upgrade doesn't make it any nicer to drive at the new weight. Cars are pretty horrible to drive at or beyond GVM. maybe take/fit less stuff?

According to the 2019 Jimny Aust. brochure...
GVW (Gross Vehicle Weight) is the term used, but that should be equivalent to GVM - M for Mass.
Is 1435kg, less kerb weight weight - which should be full of fluids (inc. fuel) but no additional optional equipment, passengers or luggage.
Manual kerb is 1075kg = 360kg of 'load' which incudes passengers, luggage & any accessories you might bolt on.
Auto kerb is 1090kg = 345kg of load, as above.

There will be instances where a decent sized person in each of the 4 seats would put the car over GVM - without anything else on board.
The secret to Suzukis = small & light.
Most accessory manufacturers do a very poor job of being transparent with weight information.
But, if you are wanting to go fully sick with accessories on your new Jimny, you have picked the wrong vehicle.
Bullbar 40kg approx.
Winch 30kg approx.
Driving lights / light bar 5-8kg
UHF & Aerial 2-4kg
Rock Sliders 15-20kg approx
Tyres 25kg - difference stock tyres & LT M/T @ 5kg per tyre
Suspension 10kg - difference between stock & aftermarket.
Roof rack 15-20kg
Towbar 15kg
That's in the region of 150kg = around 300kg remaining load capacity, less 2 passengers @ 75kg each = 150kg remaining load capacity.
Pack little & pack light.

And that doesn't take into account axle weights. I believe most jimny's with a bar and winch are over their permissible front axle weight even if they're not over GVM.

Do they offer this service for a Jimny? Their website doesn't list the jimny, only popular mine/commercial vehicles.

There's also some other caveats that might mean this isn't practical for the OP because it's considered second stage manufacture.

"Each GVM suspension upgrade is issued with a silver or green modification compliance plate fitted next to the OEM compliance plate, stating vehicle particulars and approval number issued as Second Stage Manufacture. The suspension modification and fixing of the silver modification plate must be done prior to any other modifications and must be done prior to the vehicle being licensed."

Obviously the testing regime and any engineering input would be fairly expensive, so the vendor would want to be pretty sure their investment is wise.

I'm not sure how big the market is for a GVM upgraded Jimny?

In qld you can get a 10% gvm upgrade signed off by an engineer under their legislation. Not available in other states I believe.

So, Ironman do a range of pre and post rego upgrades now and it seems most states have some kind of path to certifying a post rego upgrade that isn't too extreme, but also can't be transferred to other states.

Ironman non GVM increase lifts seem to be the only brand people are saying they dont like, so who knows what these would ride like.

Mine with me in it, full tank, 4500lb cheap winch on 20kg worth of mounting cradle, 215/75 At's, 40kg sliders, transfer bash guard and the usual crap you have in a car leaves 95kg for gear, roofrack, awning, fridge, drawers bla bla so even going to a trailer for camping it would be hard to stay under if you have any friends to take along.

For my money in a couple of years these GVM upgrades are going to be withdrawn due to failures. There's no way Suzuki will warranty anything on a car with a GVM upgrade.

I don't know what's involved with recertifying the axle loads and how the testing Suzuki do to come up with the rating differs, but it seems like breaking a housing is already something that is easy to do, so GVM increase plus heavy offroad use is going to hurt them no doubt.
QLD you can have an extra 10% with springs and tyres suitable to carry that weight with the Engineer I spoke to stating an OME kit (with the 'winch' front coils) being part of the upgrades needed, OME coils are 15% stiffer in the front and same in the rear, I know tyres are recorded but I don't know the actual requirements so the whole thing seems to be more the Government giving in to the grey nomad industry than any sound technical reasons.
