| Post subject: | Jimny 2009 Air Conditioning Compressor Current Leak |
Hi all, Recently completed a M16a engine swap, working well, all good. I had some issues with extreme battery draw, which I've narrowed down the the a/c compressor. There's a 2A draw on the battery with the engine off and the key out, which disappears when the a/c circuit fuse is removed, or when the wire to the a/c compressor is removed. With the fuse in, hooking up the battery causes a relay to click around the compressor, and a lot of current is drawn, that has worn down my battery overnight on two occasions (tried changing the battery, still drains out). I doubt it's related but sadly while wrenching the a/c compressor off we accidentally evacuated the gas to the universe (feel terrible for doing this). When removing one of the bolts, we must have knocked a high pressure pipe and slightly loosened its seal. Planning to get it leak checked and refilled, but with the engine off and nothing running, I can't imagine the compressor should be demanding any work of the battery. I had a look at the wiring in case I'd missed something, and as far as I can tell, there's only one wire going into the compressor - I assume it's grounded via its physical interface with the engine. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on? Cheers, Richard |
