Post subject:  SQ420 SWB wheel and tyre size questions

Am looking at anSQ420 SWB to replace my beloved SQ416 SWB which suffered from accident damage front right corner. I had 15" alloys running 235/75 15 All Terrain tyres....will these fit on the SQ420 or are the brake calipers on the 2ltr too big for the 15" wheels? If so can they be made to fit somehow?

If I have to go to 16" wheels I'm guessing the 235/75's won't clear the guards, they were close enough and rubbed occasionally on the SQ416, anyone know the biggest tyre size I can go to on an SQ420 on 16" rims?

Would a suspension lift allow bigger tyres without compromising road handling significantly? Don't really want to go there but if it's the only solution.

15s won't fit.
225/70r16 is the biggest legal diameter and won't rub anywhere.

Thanks for that 300NA, much appreciated. Saved me a lot of mucking about and $$$.

SQ420 SWB runs a 16 x 6.5" steel rim - which is different to the LWB wagons running a 16 x 7" rim & the 6.5" SWB rim won't clear the front brakes on a LWB.
As the SWB brakes are different, there is a chance the SQ416 & SQ420 wheels are interchangable.
I've got a wagon & had big rub issues with 225/75R16 on the stock 16x7" wheels, put a OME suspension kit in it & only had to tap up the lip above the rear wheel & trim a little of the rear door cladding at the front of the rear wheel - this area could have more clearance on a SWB with no door involved.

A question about your sq416 setup, what rims where you running, what size offset, did you have to install wheel arch flares and did you have any sort of lift?
Currently looking for wheels for my sq416 and finding it hard to find anything decent.

Cromwaytwitty, I think you can see that your gravedig hasn't been very productive.

The running gear on an SQ416 is the same as a SWB vitara. What is the problem with the rims you are finding? what size tyre do you want to run?
