Hi Folks,
So I've read lots of threads already and got nowhere, here is a tiny bit of background. Over the past month or 2 I've noticed the Jimny had a slight miss starting from second gear at low rpm's (after turning a corner) and in particular when you need torque up a slight incline.
Fast forward to yesterday, I had noticed the valve cover gasket on the Jimny leaking oil, so I replaced the gasket (which appears to be leaking again at the rear - another story) and in order to do so, you need to remove the black plastic cover which hides the ignition coils to get access.
After replacing the gasket and putting the coils back in, I took her for a quick test drive. She spluttered and mis-fired and so I removed the black plastic cover and noticed it would arc out (second coil pack) every so often (at idle). Anyway I decided to remove the coils and adjust the spark leads going into them, and upon doing so noticed some oil down cylinder #2 spark hole. I cleaned that oil out (assume it was leaking before I replaced it.
Long story short the misfire is a lot better, but it's still present. In particular it occurs when in second gear going up a hill from low rpm's and clears up. Tends to happen when applying more throttle than light throttle for some reason. I suspect coil packs are gone, but only had them replaced a year or 2 ago (no idea what brand - mechanic did it).
Before going and buying new ones I wanted to see if the OBD reading could confirm a problem in a particular area (since CEL light is on). I've read all sorts of threads which tend to be earlier Jimny's not a 2008 model with VVT head and M13A. For example this site seemed useful but didn't cover my model as far as I could tell.
http://www.rhinopower.org/diag/cel.htmlYesterday I ordered this from Kogan. "Mini Bluetooth ELM327 Car Diagnostic Scanner for Android" (not sure if it will work with Suzuki's or Jimny's?)
https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/mini-bluet ... c-scanner/Tonight I found what appears to be the OBD2 port under the dashboard.

This weekend I'll try sort out the valve cover gasket - may not have seated right on the rear of the head. But after driving it a while I don't see any oil going into the spark plug holes where the coils go. So I think I can rule that out, also the fact that the car was missing slightly before I pulled the cover off seems to indicate the problem existed before and I may have just disturbed a dodgy coil pack?
Any help re: OBD2 would be appreciated. I'm guessing ignition is caused by spark plug, coil pack or CAS but the fact I saw it arcing out seems to indicate a coil problem...
