No, vacuum advance is on your distributor and advances ignition timing as load increases on the motor. It will give the symptoms you're complaining of if ts not operating. Its possible your also have a problem with your secondaries on the carb, but under light throttle the car should still rev out under light load. In truth it could be a number of things or a number of things combined. I just suggested the most probable cause from what was described. Steve b |

Steve b Hi Steve iv just taken the vacuum advance off, is there a way to check it its not working properly? iv pushed the shaft up and held the hose connection bit to see if it holds the shaft up...and it doesn't, also when blowing down where the hose connects i suspect an air leak as i can hear one when blowing. |

hi guys fixed the problem....i think the carby was leaking water into the engine causing issues when revs increase. when the engine was off and the airbox off of the carby i could hear a tis tis like water hiting a hot surface. Wont really know untill i take the carby apart. anyway replace the advance vac which done nothen i then got a 2nd hand carby and that worked perfect. from the drive around town seems like everything is solved. thanks again for the help guys. |
