Hello comrades,

I have just fitted a 16v motor into an ex 8v vitara. It is running, but won't idle. the check engine light is on, but when we jump the diagnostic terminals as per the manual the light stays constant. I thought that the codes are read at the light on the dash when the connection is jumped?

Any ideas?

If you can't pull the codes then either the wiring to the jumper or CEL is incorrect or the ECU is in limp mode. You need to go through the wiring checking for errors.
