So im looking for a 4wd for my partner. we go camping in my Sierra currently but will need a family far in the future. I am thinking of something like http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/east-kur ... 1063257926 will be used as a daily driver and on camping trips where light 4wding is possible. Are there and design flaws about them? is there certain spots to check before buying? is there much customizing with suspension/tyres? any feed back will be great thanks. |

The earlier GVs had the older engines, 2.0 and 2.7, and no traction control, prestige may have had tc though. 2008 saw the newer motors, 2.4 (some issues being reported), 1.9 diesel (had one, a bit ordinary), and the 3.2 which is probably the one to buy. With a bit of lift, tyres and a bash plate, NGVs are capable of much more than 'light' offroading. There are a few threads here, search NGV (N=new). |

That's a pretty good price too. Mine is the 2.7 prestige that has stability control but not traction control. I wanted the 2.7 as it was a Suzuki motor rather than the 3.2 GM motor. Every 3.2 I saw was leaking like crazy. As was said they are a reasonably capable vehicle with minimal mods, especially for camping trips and what not. A note on that car, if the check engine light is on you won't have cruise control but the car will function otherwise. I wouldn't buy it without getting the codes read. My girlfriend's NGV, also a 2.7 prestige, took a long time to diagnose and get the light to stay off. |

Is there a site you can check errors on? "The light is actually off at the moment when my mechanic checked it, it came up as P2227 Barometric pressure circuit performance. I have the paperwork at home for when I've taken it to my mechanic as well. " |

The book should have the codes in it but doesn't give a great explanation. It took quite a bit of time and coin. Probably close to $1.5k by the time they had actually got the damn thing to stay off. It shouldn't have been that high but it had to go to multiple mechanics to get fixed due to the cars location when the issue occurred/reoccurred. |
