I have just bought a 2000 model Jimny. I am looking to keep it as my Daily Driver but want to make it a little better off road. I was thinking of a 2" or 3" lift but which one and which brand I'm not sure. I am getting a ARB Bar and winch of some sort also some spotties. I am also wanting to get some larger tyres under it, What size tyre and rims would you recommend.

Many Thanks
Matt

Answer: " The rigs of Auszookers"

If it were me building a Jim, I'd run 29's - 31's, a true 2 inch lift, maybe even 3", using decent shocks, throw away the front sway bar, possibly find a way to tighten the rear end flex.

Definitely do what is known on here as the "Auszookers Guard chop", so that the tires actually fit in the guards.

If your Jimny has a g series engine I think its pretty easy to run a Sierra WT transfer case with a set of reduction gears. Just find the right ratio for your tires and differential ratio.

My brother's Jimny is running Tough Dog shocks (too firm IMO), 3 inch lift springs, Tough Dog pan hard rods, tubular style castor corrected arms (Jimny bits?). It runs 30's. Un chopped they are too big IMO.

Oh, when it starts wobbling you'll need to shim king pins, check wheel bearings etc....

A geared Jimny that doesn't wobble (on big tires) would be a nice daily and weekender. If you're too lazy to correct the wobble like my brother is, a sierra is more comfortable.
