Had mine on the roof of Vit, now it's on the top of the front bar on my Cruiser.

On the roof was good for night runs thru the bush, less shadows on the track. But it showed up all the dust and bugs on the road which was a bit distracting. On the front bar seems to work well for now but haven't had it off road yet. Mine gets used daily (nightly) and coupled with HID spots and headlights gives great light! Couldn't do without it

Run it down the side of the windscreen with stick on clips into the engine bay
and through the grommet in your firewall.

21 inch on the front bar, mostly for ease of mounting

Edit: I just noticed your profile said you have a Jimny. Definitely go a roof mount on a basket (like 31zook)

Put mine on the bonnet - the reason being it was not in danger of breaking from tree branches/rocks etc. With it on the bonnet I could navigate any obstacles around it. Did not like the idea of it being on the roof for the tree branch reason did alot of driving on very overgrown tracks everything hit/got tangled up in the roof racks I had on. Idea was for a quick disconnect system so that it would stay off when driving on the road then just 20seconds to clip it all on when hitting the tracks but have not got to it yet.

On the bonnet ???
that glow of light would be in your face wouldn't it ??
It's like the lights on your dash..if you can't dim it it can be a pain..
The bar still be the best spot as you won't get blinded by reflection off the bonnet
When you have them on the roof.
but the bigger bars have to be on the roof as there is physically no other place to mount them
If positioned correctly on the roof none of that will be a problem.
They're only good for track work anyway.

Have any of you run a light bar on the bonnet? As I sit the light bar sits pretty much across my view of the bonnet, there is no glare back at all. Plus my paint is faded and not really glossy any more anyhow. I may move it to the front bar or roof just because of a bit too much attention from the boys in blue which would not happen if I end up doing the quick connects - but its pretty predictable everyone would have crap their pants on here from someone doing things different.

Yeah mate, I ran a 24" bar in the same spot on my old hard top. It was a cunt of a spot. Glare up the windscreen, bonnet and back in the cab. Paint was below average. Would highly recommend to anyone to NOT mount it there. Might look cool cos that's what the jeep guys are doing buts it's not functional.

Roof or front bar is the go.

You're right I'd know nothing about lights...

I welded an extension on the front of my basket specifically for my light bar. My purpose is for beach driving at night, we usually arrive on the beach after dark and have anything up to four hours of driving. Headlights and spots at headlight height are fairly useless on the beach at night because every hump on the beach casts a dark shadow beyond it. The light bar up top is great for irregular surfaces. Initial position created massive amounts of glare on the windscreen and bonnet, so I moved it back on the extension and aimed it slightly higher which is perfect.

He's right, there wouldn't be any glare from that on the bonnet like that! Because you wouldn't be able to see past the bloody thing!

Cheers, was a scary move.
That one is a plug which doesn't leak at all. I have another straight through version that I'll be swapping to soon though as I want to run extra lights up there. Fingers crossed the straight through is water tight.

Stainless Steel yacht fittings.
