going to put a lockright or spartan locker into the front of my vitara first question has anyone had dramas with the 22spline fronts breaking. I have most of the bits to upgrade to 26 spline and doing a stubby shaft. but wont if 22 is enough. And next where would i source the pin block from the sierra that is required to complete the install ive been googling for days and dont want to try being shocked by the local dealers price. Thanks |

Ive broken two alloy ones in two trips and killed a set of gears the second time dont want that again |

I will upgrading to a steely and 26 spline also soon. Not sure what locker to get. I want a Spartan as I like the thicker pins compared to lockrite, but not sure what fits. Will this work in the vitara steel case front with 26 spline axles: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Suzuki-Samurai- ... dc&vxp=mtr Also do samurai lockers fit in the rear of a vitara? Low range give different part numbers but I don't understand why, they are both 26 spline and mini spools are all the same for vitara and samurai? |

Lockright do a locker for a vitara rear I have it. The front is a 1510 but need the pin block im asking about above |

I'm still running 22 spline front end, with a Spartan. My stubby is 22 spline. Haven't broken anything yet. 26 would be stronger, but I had so many spare 22 spline cv's around. |

Yeah I have everything but the inner cv to make the stubby out of. Just dont want to buy a whole shaft for an.inner joint. Any ideas on where to get the cross shaft block needed for the locker install. Can anyone confirm if the vitara rear diff cross shaft block will fit?? |

The 1510 is Sierra rear so it means the spartan should fit so thanks. Will be interested in your pin block responses. Is the vitara 26 spline front a 2 pin carrier like the Sierra front? I guess for the rear I will have to go a lock rite or good old fashioned mig locker. P.s sorry if hijacked your thread, just thought it was on topic and better than starting a new one. So from what I gather I can use go buy a 26 spline steel case and axles, buy a rear Sierra Spartan locker, install my alloy case 5.12 diff gears and if I need the 22 spline pin set the lash and go 4 wheeling? Is this correct? If not someone please chime in as I will buy the parts soon as old mate is coming down from the states very soon |

All good yeah I got a lockright from lowrange think it was under 250 posted at the time its.under the diff section in vitara on the website |

After having Spartans and Lockrights, i would buy the Lockright everytime. They work out of the box, and have a smoother action on and offroad. The Spartan took a month to wear in to a point it was no longer a spool and went off like a shotgun when it released. It was harsh on road, sometimes stuck open(unlocked) offroad. The lockrights have been flawless. I don't think Christover has had issues though. |

I also noticed that low range are now selling Spartan lockers today and it was 199usd so a little cheaper than the lock rite if you haven't bought yours yet, but as I said earlier the main reason is the pin design they are a lot fatter than the lock rite. I'll try post a pic later. Seems Low range doesn't list a spartan option for the vitara just the samurai. I have a mate in the states that will visit soon so I do have the luxury of just finding the cheapest option on eBay and getting him to throw in his luggage |

My cross pin block came from a mate in the club. Broken diffs are worthless to Sierra owners, but the crosspin block is usually fine. My Spartan was tight to begin with, but worked great until the springs wore out years later. Just replaced springs, and was tight again for a week. My lock rite rear was already fitted when I bought the Vit, and worked very well for years. Still works now, but saving up for a switchable rear locker. |

I get a bang every now and then but no where near as often as when it was new works flawlessly offroad .this is my third the other two were the 4wd systems ones for other vehicles and ive fitted a total of around 5 or 6 I love the simplicity of them. yeah they are a bit cranky at times but you get used to that |

There was no adjustment without machining the Spartan. Mine wasn't the only one. |
