Hi Guys, Looking for a shop where they have a large selection of reclining (adjustable) seats that I can sit in and try before I buy. Not too fussed on brand, Recaro, Momo, AutoTechnica, etc but if anyone knowns who stocks Corbeau http://www.corbeau.com/products/reclining_seats/sportline_rrs/ that would be really great. Been told that http://www.evolutionmotorsport.com.au/index.htm possibly have them on Parramatta Rd. Cheers, Damien |

There's a huge range of quality you're looking across there. Most people wouldn't mention Autotechnica and Recaro in the same sentence. Even a $475 Corbeau isn't in the same league as a $1200 Recaro. You won't find all those brands together in the same place because nobody has a distributorship for everything. I haven't had much luck finding a Corbeau distributor in Aus. PMD race products in Mt Gambier SA have some corbeau seating, but as they are a specialist off road race shop, they don't carry reclining road seats like the sport line RRS you're looking at. They are great guys and very helpful, so I imagine they could get them in for you, but they're going to cost and if you don't like them - too bad. Revolution Racegear used to be about the best place to try seats - they used to stock OMP, Sparco, MOMO and Cobra from memory. Idealseat is the Recaro distributor for Australia. Thy are very helpful and professional. Can't help more than that. Good luck. Steve. |

Cheers Steve. I wonder how overseas sourced Corbeau seats can pass engineering & blueslip without an ADR approval certificate? If I went with an FIA approved reclining sports seat like models TRS, A4, CR1, LG1 would that possibly also meet or exceed ADR standard? VividRacing apparently ships to Australia so getting Corbeau at the right price wouldn't be a huge issue but problem is I'd be buying it blindly. mmmmmm.... |

I can't comment on that Damien. According to Corbeau's website, only the Forza, Sprint and Pro Series are FIA approved. I don't think I've ever heard of an FIA approved recliner. Recaro specifiy ADR approval for their seats, including a couple of FIA approved models. Likewise for Sparco (sprint - non-recliner) but I'm not aware of what the approval process involves. I assume you like the Corbeau based on its appearance? The Recaro Sportster looks very similar, will meet ADR, and has support here in Australia. they won't be cheap though, at all. Steve. |

Recaro Sportster or the Recaro Euro SR3 are the others I' was thinking of checking out till I've seen their RRP was well over a G. If I know they fit me I'd buy them even second hand but some came OEM in some cars so the fitting may not be the same as the non OEM Recaro's. Damn I need to look at this more closely. What's frustrating is that I just need a drivers side chair as that broke, the passenger side is AutoTechnica and less than 2 years old in great condition. |

Once you've sat in/driven in a Recaro you won't want anything else. Their recliners are second to none IMO |

I'd agree with that. Obviously, there's certain forms of motorsport that Recaro don't offer a seat for (such as the full suspension seats used in off road racing) but where they do offer a seat, its generally far an away the best available. It's also really important to get the seat the right size for you, regardless of brand. Steve. |

You could go to an importer and try all the second hand seats, generally they have them all on display. I think you are better off buying a good condition second hand recaro than a new autotechnica or any of those cheaper brands. i had one of these in my old s15 (though mine was black with red stitching) http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/RECARO-Red-S ... 565d0855e7 Very Very comfy, if i had the cash id have a recaro sr3 in all my cars. second to none. |

if you find yourself in newcastle drop into EKT eastside kustom trim see todd, he's the owner he makes his own seats that are adr approved, he does stock width and narrow profile too... mainly for things like westfields and clubmans being the maker of them he can custom them to your every need, you can choose the foam, trim, bolstering size along with other options like heating, air lumbar support and so on... great seats! |
