Hey everyone, looking at getting an 80ch UHF for my 91 JX Sierra. Curious as to where everyone has mounted their UHF and what brand/model it was that fitted where they placed it? Currently thinking of mounting it under the steering wheel and to the left a bit, or in the little box bit next to the clock if it fits maybe? Pictures would be appreciated too if possible! :) thanks in advance

It is really easy to mount them under the centre part of the dash, there are screws for the brackets like it was made for it.

Does not get in the way or anything.

Ah awesome, haven't got the sierra at my house and have never driven it, so I've just been guessing, but that sounds good, nice and out of the way! What would be a good bang for buck one? I know bugger all about them, what antenna to choose etc

I don't know anything about them either.

I have a small Oricom unit and an itron antenna. It was an impulse buy, and I trusted the repco guy on what would be a good choice.

It works well enough to talk to my mates whilst stopped, but for the noise inside a sierra at moderate speed an external speaker would be the go. I think you can do better than what I've got. Hopefully other people chime in.

Unless you have a coily dash in your w/t that location doesn't exist in your car.

If you can find a coily being wreaked then you should be able to take the map shelf of and install to your dash
