Dears,

i ahve Jimny '99 with SOHC 1.3 engine
thinking to upgrade the anget to fit a bigger one
i heared athat 1800 (J18A for baleno) can fit
can you guide me?
and what is the best? 2000 of the vitara v6 or 1800 of the baleno and what modifications are needed
should i get the engine with the gearbox or the current gearbox can fit?

Depends on a few factors as to which way you would go.

If you have the cash, or the patience and expertise any conversion can be done.

If you are on a tight budget, I think a G16B would be the easiest upgrade.

When you hunt for the cheapest possible motor, You worry already if its going to be a turd.

Never had a problem with my 98+Baleno Blocks and heads.

Its like saying all Tasmanians have 2 heads

use the g16b, everthing else is too much wrk

was gonna do it wit my white one, then sold it

I have a g16b in my vitara, goes really well. Apart from O2 sensor and servicing it has been great. My pop bought it new, and it only has 90'000km on it.

great....... i think the G16B is for the Vitara....right?
and does any have guidance to how to fit the g16b and what modifocation are needed to be done on the jimny?
will it goes with the same gearbox and transfer box or any changes are needed

G16B is also available in the Baleno and the GV. There is plenty of info on here about this swap.
