don't think you can get a 6 point cage approved any more? :?

i have a CAMS spec 4 point roll back wasting away in the back of my silver blapper, freight would be a killer to send anywhere due to the size of the thing.

I have 1 as a garden ornament, cut the roof off my last car to get it out lol. I got it powder coated but never fitted it to my new car, wish I did just rolled it. I would probably sell it, needs the front section cut and rewelded once fitted. It is powder coaster fluro orange

Took me several looks to see what you were on about

6 point cages are no longer legal in Queensland. You cannot have any bars protruding from the B pillar forward. If you aren't interested in that then I have two suggestions. Contact Fatzook, he might take a while now he is working but he might be up for the job. Pretty clean cage work from what he has done on here. Secondly, stay away from Chris deBrewski.

greater chances of head injuries etc etc, internal cages really need a helmet to be worn at all times especially with a 6 point.

What Atari said. Also department of transport said that in an emergency response roll cages have got in the way, slowing the extraction of injured people out of a wrecked vehicle and that makes it unsafe.

Personally I think if a person is in a critical condition with a roll cage there they'd be dead if it wasn't. Unless it is a head injury from hitting the cage.

Just another money making rule which is bull shit

Not really a money making rule since it is saying you can not do it. No one would make money from the absence of conditional approval.

6 point cages do not make the car safer for road use. Most people don't use containment seats, harnesses done up properly and helmets in their road car, so the chances of hitting the cage and dying in an otherwise survivable accident increase enormously.

Notice how new cars have airbags everywhere? It's because even with a seatbelt on, in a prang, you move around a lot. Hitting some 1.75" CDS with your head will ruin your day. Not only does it not deform like the thin sheet metal the car is made from, it's also at least 2" closer to your head than the original interior was.

A good 4 point will save u in a low speed roll over

6point are needed for high speed and when wearing harness as u can't just lean over if the a pill caves slightly

I actually think that most people have the decision making for cage design/building all arse about. In an off road roll, assuming you don't get clobbered by your toolbox or something else loose in the car, and are wearing a seatbelt, most rolls offer little or no chance of injury

However, most rolls, and some flops, will total the car.

Many people look at a totaled car with mild roof distortion that reached the roll
bar and claim it saved them. I'm not sure about that, but I can say that an exo would have saved them, AND the car, without requiring loads of inconvenient and unnecessary safety equipment to mitigate the increased injury risk the internal cage created.

Obviously, if the comp rules require an internal cage, then that's what you have to run. They'll mandate harnesses and helmets too though.

The only reason I would disagree with ya steve is cross bracing on a tin top as appose to a soft top where diagonal braces are easy to fit in. Most cars with exo are full body, so the majority wouldn't have any cross bracing.

A cage built with cross braces (internal or external) will hold the same strength.

I would diagonally brace an exo through a hard top though, behind the front seats.

yes, but you would build the minority of Exo's. My comment was for every cruiser/pootrol i've seen. Not that they frequent the forum, nut tin top owner do the same.
