Went camping last week. Did 6 river crossings...I checked my diff breathers and everything, but I do beleive by the 5th or 6th, it popped off (as I didnt check it that time) thinking it was fine.

I'ts not a proper "breather" just the stock jobbie thats half way up the engine bay. But i wasnt in that deep, but something made it pop off.
Anyway, in fear of water in the diff I flushed the oil as soon as the trip was over only to find this

I jacked up the car from the back to get all the oil out, but obviously you cant get it all out, so whats the best plan of action now.

Do I flush it with a 80/20 mix (diff oil and diesel) or just drive it a few days with the fresh oil and keep changing every 3-4 days and eventually it will be nice and oily again and not BIG M milky fresh.

Cheers

I'd just replace oil, drive, replace a couple of times. Diff oil is cheap.

X2. $40 (4L of Castrol EPX 80W90 710) will replace the front diff oil 4 times.

Same happened to me, I just took off both bolts and let it drain overnight then filled it back up and it was fine.
