OK ... Its got me Buggered... :?
I'm in the process of installing my new raised springs in my SWB VITARA Project. Rear Springs and Shocks not an issue and looking real FLASH :woohoo:

Front Springs doing my head in. I have a set of spring compresses but they won't compress far enough. I've undone sway bar etc but still not enough drop in the lower control arm. I don't particularly want to disconnect the CV's etc... What am i doing wrong? I was told that with the strut out and sway bar undone it should all drop enough to get the new springs in. My next step was to undo the lower control arm and see if that will drop it enough at the inner side.
Advice please... doing my head in. I know it should be a simple job... :rambo:

Thanks
Bretski

Undo the 3 bolts under the ball joint to allow the arm to drop further. The CV and steering will hold the hub up while you do this.

I have to undo the brake line from the strut as well on mine.
I have lifted springs and spacers and it goes in without a spring compressor.

I did consider this... I actually tried to undo the ball joint... but its stuck good and proper... Was getting too late to keep going...

I think I will try this... Thanks

Brake lines already detached from rebuilding the brakes. Thanks anyway.

Try undoing the bolts holding the lower arm to the chassis. Don't remove the bolts just loosen them off a little. Helps the arm swing down.

Get someone to push the arm down as much as possible, 'screw' the spring up the bumpstop, line the spring up and give it a good kick. Should pop in then spin it till the spring seats properly.

Ok All Done... thanks for the feedback guys. There was no way in the world these springs could be screwed up or pop in...

FYI (If any one interested) I ended up undoing the lower ball joints via the 3 mounting bolts. This released the lower control arm enough to slide the springs in easily. Jacked the arm back up and reattached the Ball Joint Mount.

It turns out that it was fortunate to do it this way as I found that a previous owner/mechanic had used miss matched nuts and bolts for the ball joint mounts and all the threads where badly stripped and chewed up. Dodgy as  ... and could have be disastrous with some serious 4wding load on them. So in went all new high tensile bolts for all the mounts.

So all done... Much huffing and puffing... very happy with he result...

Good to see mate. Could you measure from your guard to the middle of the hub at the front at full droop and ride height please?

I will when the guards go back on... all the panels and guards are off at the moment getting ready for respray.

Happy to measure from another fixed point for you. But from my measurements its nearly 75mm increase at full droop over standard.

Pretty happy with the Price and Value for Money with the Iron man stuff... Thanks to 4wd trekmaster.>> http://www.4x4suspensionbrisbane.com for looking after me. Did me a awesome deal. Better than the cheap crap on Evilbay i was going to buy.
